About the artist
Heather Lewis
I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Utah Valley University and my master’s degree in school counseling from Hunter College at the City University of New York. I am also certified in art therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS). In addition to working as a school counselor, I have a private art therapy practice centered on supporting children and women. I live in Midway, Utah, with my husband and our four children. This exhibit began as a visual journal of sacred spiritual experiences I have had with beings from the other side of the veil. These experiences initially felt too tender and personal to put into words, so I began by painting them. As I painted, more details returned to my memory, and I eventually felt able to write the stories down. Each piece became a way of preserving an experience and reflecting on what it taught me about the spirit world, faith, relationships, and my own life. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, my faith deeply influences how I understand these experiences. My purpose in sharing them is not to define what another person should believe, but to offer what has brought meaning, comfort, and inspiration to me. I also hope this exhibit encourages others to honor and share their own spiritual experiences. I believe many people have felt moments of connection, guidance, or closeness with those beyond the veil, yet may feel uncertain or vulnerable speaking about them. Thank you for coming, listening, and supporting my first art exhibition. It means so much to have you here.
